Special Rates & Family Fun at Holy Terror Days

 – By

September is a beautiful time of year to visit the Black Hills. Mild temperatures make many popular outdoor activities more enjoyable and after Labor Day this area becomes much less crowded than peak vacation months leaving more room to explore and enjoy the amusements and activities that abound in this region, including some of the local festivities that take place like the annual “Holy Terror Days” celebration in Keystone, SD!

Holy Terror Days originally started out as an Independence Days celebration for the small mining community of Keystone, SD in the late 1800’s as a way to bring entertainment and rejuvenation to the hardworking miners and settlers that made this area their home. This exciting event takes its name from the Holy Terror Mine, one of the richest claims ever discovered in the Black Hills, and pays homage to the rich mining history of this once gold rich gulch in the Black Hills and celebrates the unique western aura that surrounds the community of Keystone to this day.

This year’s Holy Terror Days celebration is scheduled to take place the weekend of September 6th- 7th with the festivities beginning early Saturday morning and extending throughout the weekend.  Visitors to the 2014 Holy Terror Days celebration can look forward to the many annual events that take place each year including the Holy Terror Days parade, a BBQ picnic lunch, and the Ugly Truck Contest.

In addition to some of the great events that take place during the Holy Terror Days celebration, this year’s event will also include a special guest appearance from the cast of “Little House on the Prairie”. Carrie Ingalls Swanzey, a younger sister to Laura Ingalls Wilder, called Keystone, SD home for 35 years from 1911 until her passing in 1946 and members of the cast from the television series that depicted the lives of the Ingalls family and the life they lived on the plains of South Dakota will be on-hand to sign autographs and share their experiences about the television show.

If you happen to be traveling through the Black Hills over the weekend of September 6-7th, be sure to plan on stopping in Keystone to experience the excitement and history of Holy Terror Days. There is sure to be plenty of food, fun, and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.

During the celebration, we will be offering an online-exclusive rate of $59.99/night (+ tax) on our hotel rooms when you book online and use the promo code HOLYTERROR1 or a discount of 25% off your stay in any of our cabins when you book online and use the promo code HOLYTERROR2! These special rates are only valid for reservations made online and for the dates of Friday September 5th – Monday September 8th. We hope to see you in Keystone for Holy Terror Days!
