Wow, the winter has just flown by this year. Although many may argue we didn't even have a winter. The weather this year has been unreal. We have had temps in the 40's and 50's through January and February, and it's been almost 60 or higher everyday this March. While the nice weather is enjoyable, we really need some rain. Fire Danger is already extremely high in the Hills, and there have been several grass fires in and around Rapid City already. So, let's hope for a wet April and beginning of May.
Things are still quit here for about another week, and then it is go time, as we will start working the first of April, to get everything ready and going for a great 2012 season. While we continue to invest and make improvements every year, this year the improvements may not be noticeable to most. Instead we are working behind the scenes, and the biggest project is finished as we have finally gotten our new water filtration system set-up and installed. If you have stayed with us in the past, you may have noticed that our water was sometimes a rust color. Well, it was due to the extremely high iron content of our wells on the property. So, to remedy this we have installed, a new water filtration system right off of the well head, designed to remove all of the iron, in addition to this we installed a new 5000 gallon holding tank, to allow any iron that may have been missed by the filter to settle out before being pumped up the hill. That's not all though, as we have also went through and installed filters on every single unit on the property, as it enters the buildings. Hopefully this will be the solution as the water quality even last year, with only part of the system installed was much much better.
